try krita, specially for digital painting with tablet
I’m not trying to make a painting with a drawing tablet, though. I just want to edit the alpha values of an image. From what I can tell, nothing offers that type of basic image editing. Paint.net comes close, but even that can be finicky and relies on community addons that often become unavailable.
In gimp just right click the layer, choose add layer mask, then pick from layer’s alpha channel. You now have a mask layer you can paint on.
Is there a way to do this, working off of the existing values? For example, copy an image’s alpha values onto the mask so you can then adjust brightness/contrast?
Yea make sure you picked, the from image alpha option when creating the mask.
