Eh, I think protestantism and catholicism are actually pretty different. Even the local catholic churches can differ quite a lot between countries - e.g. Germany’s catholic churches are generally a lot more progressive than those in Africa. And European lutheranism might as well be on a different planet compared to US evangelicalism.
And to many people the differences between Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are negligible.
Sure, it’s a matter of what particular aspects of religion you care about, and Judaism and Islam aren’t monoliths, either.
Then they don’t understand them at all.
There are very foundational differences between them.
I say this as an irreligjous person who’s studied world religions.
They only appear similar when viewed through a very low resolution/highly abstracted perspective.
As far as I’m concerned, Religions are categorized first by who their god is so I’d lump these and more together.
