Generally speaking, modern buildings are better than old ones. and actual ruins should be integrated into a modern structure on top rather than just left wasting space. (I am not in favour of removing well built old buildings like churches, but i live somewhere where the cult of preserving old housing stock which is no longer fit for purpose, for “historical” reasons, is ruining the country. If you can make something more eco efficient, it must be done.)
to expand on the previous point: people are extremely negative about structures from 1901-2001, and about 2001-2026. There’s beauty in them. People will literally learn to hate anything if they hear other people express that it is ugly. These buildings are simply not that bad at al, nor are new buildings.
