Today’s game is some more Old School RuneScape. I finished the Goblin Diplomacy quest today and started on the Slayer quest stuff. That’s what brought me to the giant pig monster thing above.

The game makes you do a lot of walking. It’s an interesting perspective. I’m someone who every once in a while will try and play a game without fast travel, but here I’m definitely feeling the lack of it. I had to make a 5 minute walk 5 times for the Goblin Quest for example to finish it. It’s tedious, but I will say, making me work for it has given me an understanding of the land I’m not sure I’d have otherwise.

Speaking of said creature, with all the walking the quest had me do it was amusing to essentially have the game throw one last walk at you. The creature spat acid in my eyes, and that knocked me out. Because of that I had to backtrack all the way back to the creature.

And you want to know what I found out? I’m not even a high enough level to kill it. I tried to get a few strikes in but it knocked out 2/3s of my health so I ran away. I guess I found my next major goal before the dragon slayer quest as I’d like to complete as many quests as I can.

I agree that the early game walking is interesting because it gives you such a great sense of the actual layout the world. It makes it feel actually connected and whole while most MMOs feel like a bunch of disconnected maps.

Don’t worry though. Once your magic gets up a bit you’ll be able to teleport around and save a ton of time. Teleport spells are the best early travel tech unlocks.
