BS is all that is driving hardware sales at the moment. Computers have been fit-for-purpose for the last 10 years.
If people don’t submit to the AI BS, they won’t need to upgrade their computers.
The only way to force people to upgrade their computers is forced obsolescence; which requires the hardware to have some sort of remote kill switch, like a TPM.
This is also why open source OSs are being criminalised; if you can run Linux on an old MacBook or Surface Pro 4, there is no incentive to buy a new computer.
Okay I’m curious now, what’s the mechanism of killing hardware via TPM?
I guess @Salvo might have been referring to the possibility of subverting “trusted” platform modules into treacherous ones.
Where is running Linux being criminalized? I dual boot my MacBook Pro with Linux just fine.
