I use it to:
Avoid messaging my coworkers late at night.
Look like I am working late even though I’m not.
Annoy my lazy coworkers. You know the ones who ask the same questions, you’ve answered 9 times already? Answer him but set it to delay for increasingly longer time (I’m up to 4 days now). Then you can move on with my life but not leave them hanging forever.
I generally don’t do that. Once I’m off work, the laptop is shut and work profile on my phone is turned off. The second I step out of the building, I’m no longer having work-related conversations.
That’s not just personal work-life ethic, it’s the explicit policy my boss laid out. He just doesn’t stick to it himself.
