The book Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, and Fawlty Towers, Benny Hill, and Monty Python on PBS, were my introduction to British humor when I was a kid growing up in California.
My brother took me to see Holy Grail and Life of Brian.
I dunno why British humor hits so well with nerdy kids.
For me it was Red Dwarf … Then all the rest.
I guess I started with audio tapes of “Handcock’s half hour” and “I’m sorry I’ll read that again”, then “Yes, minister”, then onto The Guide and later red dwarf…
The tagline on book 5 was superb:
