    Well easier than cutting everybody’s consumption by 50% lmao

    You’d first need to capture the current consumption for everyone, so yes, a ban would be way easier to implement

      I agree an authoritarian ban would not be well received, and likely circumvented.

      The 50% cut in consumption could be achieved voluntarily through subsidy, tariffs, education and health arguments.

        If it could work without any ban, it most likely would already. It’s known for decades that the meat industry is a leading factor in climate change. So thw motivation would be there, if people were rwady to do so without being forced to.

        Just a reminder that we closed the ozon layer by banning CFCs, not by having everybody boycott it on their own by their free will.
