Because it’s on a tray, which makes no sense.
Makes it easier for the slaves to carry, i guess
In the books, the slaves set the meal on “dummy” tables and the food gets teleported to the true tables
Why did they need slaves then? Couldn’t they just teleport it all in the first place?
No you see, its a sentient race that likes to be slaves so you need something to do for your slave race
To make the food in the first place. Magic cannot make or transform food. But you can move it with magic, store it in magic containers, or add magical properties to food.
Slight correction:
(Note, as a trans person I hate that I know this)
J.K. Rowling is such an arse that she willingly decided that food scarcity should still be a thing in her fictional magical universe.
She also decided that in her fictional magical world, magic would not be a rare occurrence, skill thing, or even a spiritual thing, but strictly racial.
Wizards are born from other wizards. Period. Even muggle-born wizards like Hermione are actually descendants of squibs (wizard-born wizards that have no magic abilities) who left the wizarding world and went on to live as muggles.
I learned that recently and I was so weirded out. Why would you have that? Is it just to crush the children’s hope?
But there’s a contradiction even in that bloody ‘explanation.’ What in the hell is transforming it but changing its properties? Uuugh.
