So why did they need British ships providing defence for visiting officials?
Visiting officials are third parties. The threats against them are not threats Ireland faces.
Why would Ireland spend massive amounts of money on a military budget just to provide temporary security for some meetings when those expensive military assets would no longer be required once the meetings are over?
Because that’s what every one else does?
