Part of me is so upset how many games we’ve now seen get multiple remakes. Tomb Raider 1 is up to like its fourth version. Starfox has 3-4, Ocarina of Time has 3, Resident Evil 1 is likely to get a 3rd.
I just wish we were pushing for new experiences, especially from major studios capable of it. Everyone who sighs in disappointment anytime a games show announcement isn’t a sequel to a franchise they know is part of the problem.
Taking an actual risk?
Not with my venture capital! You better shit out some generic reboot so we can spend most of the development budget on the IP instead of actually developing something.
Yeah if the cash from these was used to finance something new/interesting it might be worth it, but why would a company risk anything? Sounds bad for the shareholders!
my only tiff is how long they waited to make these remakes. Capcom remade RE 2,3,4 before 1 (with modern controls), Nintendo waited 30(?) years to bring OOT to modern consoles, Konami remade MGS 3,4 before 1 and 2, and they remade Silent Hill 2 before 1, makes little sense to me
Problem is also the people that keep rebuying these games!!!
I have friends that are rebuying StarFox, Ocarina and RE
