I’ve seen evidence that the fastest way to cut down aluminum pipes is a circular saw. Sawzaws and portable band saws gum up the blades and slow down the cut. Not related, just thought you should know.
Well, yes circular saw would be good and way more compact than a sawz all, but you’ll still want a metal blade. The default for any saw will probably be for wood, or maybe a wood and nail blade. That’ll take a year and a half to cut through one, and then be ruined.
I found a good deal on large diameter pipe cutters, and I like that they are very silent and surprisingly quick to use so I don’t disturb my neighbors when I am doing large scale plumbing in my basement.
Could you link? All I’m seeing are soft tube or copper pipe cutters, which, no way in hell.
Just like the start of Cool Hand Luke
I had a dream once about someone cutting vertical pipes just for giggles, and he would always press against the pipe with a gloved hand (gloved for safety reasons), or have a friend do it (also gloved). Dream person told me the force on the pole was to keep the metal pole from biting down on the blade causing binding.
They said they also prefer a circular saw, but aluminum is pretty soft so you could even cut it with a hand saw if being quiet is more important to you than being quick.
