Yes, not everyone can, but it’s not impossible. I did. At that point I was 3 years working in that company. I was fortunate that my boss and his boss were very supportive and happy to help.

If OP is willing, it will be a bit easier to relocate to a lower cost country. Most people moving for work go the opposite way, but OP seems to just want to escape, so maybe they can go for a developing country.
