Trying a few things. Two socks at a time. Using a center pull and outer pull yarn from my new yarn ball holder.
I’m at the point where I need to pick a heal. I am going to go with a contrasting heel color to avoid yarn chicken. I do not want to cut the yarn to add a secondary color. But I’m having trouble finding a heel that isn’t going to have me pulling my hair. These are size 1.75 mm (US 00) needles and picking up such tiny stitches invokes Cthulhu madness disorder.
So I’m thinking I’ll just go with an afterthought heel. But also ribbed so it’s more conforming than normal? But why can’t I find a single example of a ribbed afterthought heel? Is there some rule against ribbing the back part of an afterthought heel but not the ball of the foot portion? Do I need to knit a sample to see what goes wrong?
Is there a better heel for contrast color cuff down heels that doesn’t involve picking up stitches or cutting the main yarn?
