And what is wrong with you?

You made an AI agent to summarize random video game news. It never provides sources outside of the occasional Steam link, it’s just uncited garbage about unlocking skins in some stupid game or GTA 6 leaks. And as a cherry on top, emoji.

Are YOU reading the posts? If so, what are you getting out of it? And if not, why would you think anyone else wants to read it?

Before you say “just block them,” that doesn’t answer this question that has me baffled. I want to know what the creator thinks they’re adding to the fediverse with this slop.

I’m pretty sure I’m the #1 commenter simply through trying to answer this question. It’s a dead community with a bot posting to no one. What is the point

AI psychosis. AI bros are convinced that “AI” is good and contributes to the world so they become the fan to spread its shit.

But I want to know if THEY’RE using it and if not, why it’s still online despite the obviously lack of use

    Who runs the “SteamAndEpic” bot?

FWIW the account is properly labeled as a bot, but doesn’t list an owner.

    Per Lemmy.World bot rules,

The owner of the bot and contact details must be mentioned in the bot’s bio.

Other than that it doesn’t appear to break any of the bot rules.

I think reaching out to the bot to fill out these details would be appropriate, if somebody wanted to.

In terms of actual content, I agree I don’t find it useful and the fact that it is mostly ignored/down voted it would seem most people agree. I would argue the entire point of social media is human to human interaction.

Great catch, I didn’t know about that rule. Though my intent isn’t necessarily to get it banned, I’d prefer the owner see the error in their ways.

Wholly agreed on the last point. I’m very against even RSS bots because it kills discussion 99% of the time. People DO reply but I can’t be the only one who has something to say but doesn’t comment because …there is no OP to read it.

Not to mention that people post things they find worthwhile and bots post…everything. No filter, no accountability.

Oh I agree. Generally speaking the bot is following most rules. But the owner of the bot should claim it properly.

I run a number of bots for the communities I moderate. Their job is to post TV/film discussion threads when that particular media is available. Additionally because a bot posts it the bot sees the reply and not me so I can avoid spoilers. However I am only posting threads for things that I will eventually comment on.

When I look at these bots posts, I don’t completely hate what they’re posting. I think it’s a good jumping off point for discussion. But as you said I’m not going to post my comment to an obvious bot post if there is no chance someone might see it and reply.

In a place like the Fediverse that first comment is EVERYTHING. And not just any first comment, it has to be for lack of a better word “human”. The current state of AI/LLMs are a lot of things, but they’re not human. Not yet at least. Maybe never.

I block any spammy user I can. I’ve noticed a TON of new accounts that are < 1 day old with ~20 posts. Always in the same communities. Politics, world news, science, and maybe a couple others. I block every single one of them.

This is different. This is an LLM regurgitating crap to their own community.

Not that I like bots in general (I don’t), but it’s a distinction worth making because I at least understand why people would want RSS feeds

They’re not trying to help. They’re being insincerely helpful and thinking they dunked on someone lol

I’d suggest finishing reading a post before you go through the effort of taking and editing a screenshot to point out a thing that was directly addressed lol
