A policeman was killed and three others were wounded in an armed “terrorist” attack in Iran’s southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan province on Monday.

The attack targeted the officers’ vehicle on an intercity road in Iranshahr County while they were on duty, according to the provincial police public relations office, Xinhua reported.

Authorities were working to identify and arrest the gunmen, the statement said.

Sistan and Baluchestan, which borders Pakistan and Afghanistan, has experienced several attacks in recent years targeting both civilians and security forces.
