I used to play a game with a small group of people called “non-colloquialism” where it was forbidden to use any contractions, abbreviations, slang, etc. There were some contentious rules like whether “fax” was acceptable, but “OK” definitely was not.
What would happen when you broke the rules? Did everyone get a “non-colloquialism jar” and had to put in 10c or something?
Not a massive penalty, it was just that everybody else would be really smug about how uncivilized you were.
