That was a long way to go.

Back in the day, Schlitz had an ad campaign where a bull (their mascot?) would burst into the room when you said the name of the beer.
I live in the US, in Southern California, which is one of the more expensive parts of the country. $2k a month isn’t a lot in that it would be hard to live on it, but I made pretty decent money before I retired and it’s more than I could have comfortably given away.
Remember that anyone here talking about hourly wages is talking about gross income and not net income, and if you give money away it comes out of net income.
Let’s say someone was making $100 an hour, which is $200k a year, and fairly decent money. That’s $16.6k a month. But after taxes that’s more like $10k. Most people making that kind of money have a mortgage, car payments, home and car insurance. Also, employer sponsored medical usually only pays like two thirds of the insurance costs. And they likely have money coming out of their check into a retirement account. So the disposable income is going to be a lot less and $2k isn’t going to be a trivial percentage.
But if the person is making, say, twice that amount, then it’s starting to be more trivial. Not a ton of people are making $400k or more a year.

Fault has nothing to do with surviving. That’s like saying the pedestrian would be at fault if he lived.
I don’t believe they generally prosecute the dead folks, but it doesn’t mean they weren’t at fault.

Well, they do, but they’re giant energy hogs. Just have a door on the shower and that stuff isn’t needed.

Insulation varies, but even a well insulated house is going to get cold if it’s freezing outside, and it takes energy to get them up to a toasty temp.

Most of the heat in the US is electric or gas. In areas where the temps get freezing and below outside, people don’t tend to run it to get the temps into the mid 20s like that.

They’re terrible. Everything you said is true, but I’ll add that unless you crank up the heat in the room, they’re miserable on cold days. The enclosed showers trap the steam and warmth from the how water in with you, but with no door it’s just cold.

Not exactly news that words often change meanings over time.

At my Costco, pistachios are $20 for a 48 oz bag, so 41 cents an ounce. At my local Ralph’s, they’re $11 for a 16 oz bag, so 68 cents an ounce. So the grocery store is 67% more expensive. That’s way more than the percentage of empty shells we’re seeing, and I doubt the shells weigh as much as the nuts.

On the other hand, last I checked, they were SO much cheaper at costco than the grocery store that I wouldn’t complain about some empties.

The stuff I used to give my cat was fine, but she had kidney disease now and is on a prescription canned-only diet. The new stuff smells gross and it makes her poop smell much worse.

No, that was not it at all, according to her. It’s that things that smell really good to the animals don’t generally smell good to humans. She said it would be really easy to make food the animals would be excited about, but their owners would open the can and it would smell bad, so they didn’t want to buy any more of it.

I remember a food chemist telling me that one of their hardest problems was making things that smell and taste good to dogs and cats, but didn’t smell too gross for the humans.
Why would you want to live beyond whatever age you are now? If tomorrow you were diagnosed with, say, arthritis, would you want to die?
I’m in my 60s. I’m enjoying life. Why would I want to die?
The only people I’ve know who wanted to die either had problems with depression or were suffering from painful, incurable diseases.
