It’s a 2$ increase from 13$ to 15$. I feel like most people don’t care and it’s more of a boiled frog situation than anything else. I doubt anyone is seriously going to cancel for an extra 2$ unless they were already planning too tbh.

I highly doubt anything other than final assembly with the case is being done. PCB aren’t hand soldered anymore, a machine does all the work. If it was built in the US, it wouldn’t be dealing with tarrifs in any case so clearly, there’s as much slave labor involved as every other product.
Before it becomes an issue, yes I think tariffs are dumb. Its just silly to assume these guys are the only ones doing ethical gameboy gimmick toys and that’s why it’s overpriced.
A quick google actually tells me it’s manufactured in Malaysia so they don’t even do final assembly. PCB is most likely China.

No.
He said “so close, yet so far” which is saying nothing.
Whatever it plays, it’s still just an stm32, an esp and a screen. It’s still just 35$ in parts being sold for more than double the price a phone that can play Wii games would cost. It’s a gimmick. You are falling for a gimmick.

I guess it’s nice to pretend and not even make a point. You have said nothing.

All little mini game boys are a serious rip off. It’s just an stm32, an esp32 and a screen. We’re talking maybe 35$ to build one without bulk pricing. The crank is just decoration, it doesn’t even do anything.
He isn’t necessarily wrong on this one. It’s at least worth a try.

Other than the most recent one where he’s responding to someone in all caps, I don’t see it. The all caps response comes off as someone tired of all the complaining, not necessarily unhinged.

Let’s say he has something where he can copy/paste a link and it takes the content and posts it on Lemmy, then 30 is not unrealistic.

Thanks! My app doesn’t show the exact date so I wouldn’t have known.

I don’t see a rule against bots, the spam rule seems to be about crossposting.
Edit: nvm, I can’t read. It is against the rules. Im not certain sanitation is a bot, he probably just has a reposting tool but I think he is curating what he chooses to repost.

Linking to Reddit is against community rules.
Idk, I think it isn’t actually automated and he is picking the content he reposts. I don’t really see a harm to it when Lemmy is sometimes starving for content.

Reddit doesn’t deserve a link, fuck that
The environmental cost of all the actors and staff driving to the location is much higher than generating the video, not to mention set cost, fake food and prop costs, etc.
People tripping over the environmental cost of software are rubes. Generating text is about 5 seconds of Netflix streaming but you obviously don’t look at your own energy usage when watching tv, that would break the echo.
I fail to see why that would matter. You don’t lower the bar because most aren’t reaching it, this isn’t highschool gym class.
It does come off as a kind of fake grief. I also block all the wholesome meme communities, so it’s annoying to see the regular meme comms get flooded with “remember when (celebrity) did this and showed everyone how good of a person they are”.
Don’t really see the point in downvoting it but it definitely makes me roll my eyes.

From my understanding, the leakers do have a playable build. Not much is known though. What’s unhinged about this, and why would federal crime charges worry some guy that’s probably somewhere in Asia or eastern Europe behind an army of vpns. Most hacking and leaking we hear about isn’t legal.
Edit: oh the malware part, I get it. Ya that’s silly. I misunderstood the federal crime rebuttal.

If anything, being a firefighter with a history major is commendable. Segue into a joke about the Library of Alexandria if they ask you about it.

No problem! I just thought of another possible solution. When I used to work as a line cook, we would put some baby powder down there to keep things dry. No idea if it will work with bike shorts and biking in general but it might be something to try.
I really hate how they are rolling with the Australian gym incident. They had a completely open API. Imagine having a button on your front page that sends you to the admin page without asking for a password, and then telling people you were “hacked”.
