Still being practiced so to speak at various National Parks. Yellowstone comes to mind.

The closest place to take plastic last I checked was over an hour away by car.
Unfortunately, plastics recycling was largely a scam perpetrated by various business concerns to whitewash their image. Actual plastics recycling is a pretty toxic process as I understand it, and at some point the world’s largest importer (China) no longer accepted used plastic.
I agree with the other suggestion that holding local and regional politicians to account is probably the most useful step overall.
EDIT: Oh, sorry, one immediate, hands-on thing you can do as an apt-dweller (fist-bump) is to start up a window herb garden. It doesn’t take much to do at a basic level. :D

As vegetarians, I really like the idea of letting gorillas plan out gardens for a change.
My fan-theory is that something went slightly wrong with the first wish, so he made a 2nd, trying to correct, and something went wrong with that one, and repeat… until here we are.
Actually I’ve seen that kind of sequence before across various comics & cartoons, so it’s not really much of a fan-theory, haha.

And thanks so much for answering from the 13yo segment of the crowd, right? That certainly always helps with complex matters like these, right? XD

Its the announcement and speaking of it that mangles the moment.
True enough, upon many things indeed…
I mean, different people handle the vagaries of childhood differently. Different people handle the intrinsic beauty of the female form differently, and sometimes words are best not spoken, as you say. Perhaps indeed my mind got corrupted (and expanded) about all this by a certain set of fine, memorable gentlemen, one of which managed to put out a certain song!

You’re trying really really hard to shame me here or something.
I’m not aware of anyone here trying “really hard to shame you.” Sorry if I came on too strong there, mate.
I have seen all of my.kids breastfeed and never felt the need to announce it, or say anything at all about it. Its weird to do that.
Alright, 'preciate your honesty, there. So evidently you never felt your attitude about breastfeeding transform from pre-fatherhood to post-fatherhood, is that correct? But yeah, I can definitely understand not every dad having that journey of sorts, and that’s just how that works.
As for being ‘weird,’ I can certainly understand how some might feel that way (just look at the vote score!), but to me, I rather appreciated OP’s thoughts in a place which is of course “ShowerThoughts” and nothing more remarkable than that. I actually do admire the honesty and bit of bravery by OP saying that, especially as it gets back to what I mentioned earlier-- the transformative qualities of being in long relationships.
If that’s still not making sense, part of what I’m trying to get at is that when we’re young, our hormones tend to have a major role in our mutual attraction, and then in the child-raising phase, things can shift considerably, and we can see each other with amazingly different eyes. Including ‘sexual’ matters. And then, as we age, our romantic relationships can shift in many ways in terms of nuance of friendship. And for sure, sadly or unsadly, we can also grow shockingly apart from someone we once loved dearly.
Bah. Mini-essay that nobody needed to hear… XD

Got it. So just strip away all that relevant context and pretend that it’s some babies-breastfeeding fetish, and not actually father-child-mother related.
So here’s a question-- would you say you’ve personally graduated from a certain horndog phase of younger life, one in which it’s all too easy to view women as objects? And are you a father yourself?

I mean… breastfeeding is a natural part of human and mammal existence. If you see it happening as a father or relative, then you’re seeing a sign that things seem to be going healthily and relatively happily.
You also have to remember that what was likely part of your earlier attraction to your mate (reproductive organs) can later be seen in a completely different light. The breasts as a mechanism of nourishment, and of course the birth canal, delivering new life (and your personal offspring) in to the world.
So in these cases, there’s a sense of transformation of one’s viewpoint. Which can indeed be impressive, breathtaking, and yeah… beautiful. I don’t see any reason any of that would necessarily be “creepy” for the person having that experience.

Lol… the replies are pretty savage on this one. Could it possibly be because of OP’s instance?

Hah, I’m old enough to remember how that actually went down in the struggling Marvel offices at the time. Early-to-mid 70’s was his actual creation-moment IIRC.
You should read Mark Evanier’s blog if you’re actually curious about this stuff…

Upvote, for seeming to be a nice person who sticks to that basic premise upon American comics. And for sure, folks like you are needed!
Over here, I happen to prefer European comics, and actually I’d be curious to hear what you might think about such. Like, are they too weird for the USA, or…?

Practically a prerequisite for the superhero club. That and body-building, I guess.

I get the inborn super-healing, and I get the addition of the adamantine (sp?) skeleton, but what powers did he create on his own?
Martial arts ability?

Pre-Germany by a matter of many, many centuries, but I take your point. Also, specifically from an Anglo-Saxon, West Germanic fork that is considerably different from other forks, for example High German as I understand it. Also, English has also been a heavily Norman-French influenced language for almost a full millenium.
So bottom line, one might say that English is an olde French-West Germanic language with a load of influences from Latin, etc, that morphed over time just like most major languages do.
What really is the point in trying to artificially curate it, @vegafjord@slrpnk.net?
I see your point, but I think I tended to aim for a middle ground of sorts. For example, a big reason I fell in love with PKD’s stuff is because he relentlessly imagined realities in which some new tech(s) was added to the mix, then we imagined how that would play out in real life. The tech didn’t need to be super-grounded in science, just something plausible. Which more or less bypassed the kind of conundrum you’re proposing.
Btw, I’m not sure I agree about Star Wars completely bypassing plausible science. The unique idea there ( The
SchwartzForce ) is fairly consistently explained in metaphysical terms, not unlike levels of consciousness that can be unlocked by dedication to meditation and certain martial arts. That sort of thing, anyway. There was also the later pseudo-science idea about “midichlorians” being analogous to mitochondria, FWIW. Perhaps better explained in some of the novelisations and other works, I guess. I didn’t really see the need for all that myself, but I guess it may have satisfied some folks’ burning curiosity.
