One of my various YouTubers is a tech person and generally against arbitrary AI use. They posted that someone generated a bio summary of them for a conference that hallucinated that they were from Guadalajara, Mexico. AI generated articles started using that fact. Now more AI summaries are citing the articles so they look real.

They’re from NY, but it’s going to be nigh impossible to correct the record.

Discworld as a collection is intimidating. The real secret is that it’s not a series, but a kind of pile. You can really start almost anywhere and read whatever.

That said, there’s kind of short sets with the same characters in groups throughout the books. I’d point people to these ones as reasonable starting points:

I’m sure other people will have various other suggestions or opinions and we’re all likely correct for our own reasons. There’s very little in Discord that isn’t top tier writing.

There’s plenty I could list, but when it comes to seeing the world through a new lens it’s all about Discworld. Just keep reading and it’ll change you. Sir Pratchett’s understanding of people, society, and philosophy is phenomenal.

I’ve had more than too many life threatening events. Along with family, therapy, proactive steps to improve my life, I took to heart “life before death”. When I would be in a bad mental/emotional place, that was a strong mantra to help me get back on track. Thank you, Brandon Sanderson.

Gliding on old savings, but hopefully the new job (39% raise!) will get us back afloat… for now. It’s like I have to keep changing jobs so I can get raises that even begin to match the cost of living increases from corporate greed.

We were required to do our initial deposit for a bank account in Germany in cash. Not entirely sure why, but we’re immigrants and so we couldn’t easily do international transfers yet, nor did we have an in-country account to work with. Having larger denominations for a two month rent security account was very reasonable.

Do we do lots with cash? YES. We have children and they use cash to buy things. Do I use it? Yes. For everything? No. It’s about 80% digital, 20% cash. Should I use digital to buy a 1 euro pastry at a train station? No. Why pay the overhead to the bank? Don’t bother. Cash works fine. Digital works fine. Have both.

The problem is that it worked in the US for many decades. It’s the ghost of the capitalist powers fear mongering away to prevent citizens from taking control of their own labor.
