  • Probably the rapid pace of eating it plus bad luck. A relative almost died last year because of an intestinal blockage. Don’t know the specific cause of his just one day he couldn’t keep anything down. He went to the doctor thinking it was a bad stomach bug and was immediately shipped off to the hospital for emergency surgery. He lived, but it’s a thing that can very rapidly kill you if you’re unlucky.

Like, people die from stuff that didn’t kill lots of other people all the time. Only one lady died from this:

but dying from drinking too much water, like bowel obstruction, is a known cause of death. Or like when “healthy” athletes randomly die from heart attacks - sometimes the body just goes “nope” and fucks something up. There might have been a flaw in the heart that was just chilling until some slight extra push made it cause a whole system failure.

Maybe the kid had a slightly swollen section of his intestines before he started, or a different flaw in the area, where it was easier for food to get caught. Or he ate it way faster than a normal raw pasta enjoyer would, because it was a challenge and not for the love of raw noodles.

So, I don’t see any reason to doubt it.
