lol, this is completely unimportant
but
No, I had it initially, and then - as I said - I haven’t had it since then, alas.

LOL. The intersection of language and machine can be fascinating.
Two anecdotes come to mind:
There’s a story out there - don’t remember the author’s name and he hasn’t written much and you used to could find the story out there but I haven’t been able to in a while as I check every so often - but “Cax6ton” will find info about it and him. It was a really great sci-fi short story (reminding me of the stories from the likes of Asimov and that timeframe) of a kid growing up and having escalating experiences of finding order in random chaos (for example, generating random letters and looking for words). I won’t spoil the ending, but it was a really nice story.
My dad used to work on telephone testing equipment, and back in the 80s, there was a device they would use - DECTalk - basically you could connect it to the computer via serial cable and use a terminal to send it commands and text, and it would do text-to-speech. It was relatively primative, but the tech is in a lot of 90s-2000s+ text-to-speech that you’ll find on computers (Windows/Mac). Well, I’d spend hours writing things for it to say - oh hey, found someone has put it up on the web: https://dectalk.de/webspeak - oh, this is nostalgic!
Some phrases that amused the SHIT out of me as a twelve year old in 1987:
Huh. On the physical DECTalk I played with, if you sent JUSt the vowels, it would pronounce them like:
Actally, even that is different because it used to leave pauses between the letters, and now it speechifies them. lol.
What else? Oh, this was always a winner:
Yeah, this version is a little different, but it is decently close. The voice is right and a lot of the cadence is, but it feels like maybe a later version than I had. lol
And yes. We were more easily entertained in those days. XD
lol, sounds like you didn’t catch my last sentence, but no worries, I found it amusing <3
Ritalin.
I’d heard all the stories about zombie kids and such. Then at 30 I was diagnosed with ADHD and it explained so much. My first ritalin was a life changer. Not a zombie - I could focus on what I wanted to, get things started, music stuck in my head gone, so many other things. Not perfect, but so much better.
I’m still pissed that for most of my life since I haven’t been able to have it or anything else to help.
Funny, I went the other way. heh
archive.is didn’t manage the paywall on this one, alas
15 years in Panama City, FL, which is about ⅔ red and ⅓ blue. It was fucking annoying. Fox News on every single fucking public television.
Hampton Roads, VA is so much better.
whites only with no colors?
FOUND THE RACIST

terrified to get out of their box out of fear of breaking them.
The question you have to ask is: Is it worth taking up space and never beeing seen or used vs. the risk of having it out and using it?
It’s like bottles of wine that slowly turn to vinegar. Things not used are a waste of space, a waste of resources spent on making them.
It’s your stuff, do as you please, of course. I don’tk now enough specifics to say either use or don’t use is better for sure. Just that most people hoard and hold on to things that never get used. Like the china in the thread and your comment specifically - what a waste of space, although at least using it annually means it’s really special. But compare that to something you can never use - it only takes up space.
Again, not trying to be pushy at all, I know it might sound it <3
hahaha, this idiot hasn’t figured out country-folding. What a twat.
Whether sarcastic or just meant straight up, I accept :D
I asked AI to tranlate it and it correctly identified the characters are ghost characters.
I asked Google Translate which said it was simplified Chinese “The company is committed to providing high-quality products and services.”
lol
I didn’t even see you reply because I pre-blocked you
;-) (kidding of course)
I hate you but I respect you. Hehehe
K. ;-)
I agree about formal writing though.
The word is “yeah”.
Not “yea”.
The later rhymes with “yay” and means something similar to but distinct from "yes’
Similarly it is yea/nay not yay/nay.
And fuck English for making the incorrect more logical and consistent. Lol
Sweet and sour pork is a dessert then. Lol
And literally literally had become figuratively centuries ago.
I like and support your comment, though. But also where you changed your mind. :)
I was able to have it for around a year, give or take, but they kept trying to send me to the therapist for something like an annual re-diagnosis or something - “Yes, he still has it!” I guess… this was 2007-2008 and in a small metro. So I wasn’t able to keep it.
I think that’s long enough for the initial to wear down a little, but they did put me on 20mg tid, so while sometimes I did get a little energy boost, for the most part, that was what worked the best - and I could absolutely easily sleep on that, tending to support the level. heh.
The initial dose I had was 10mg, and yeah, after a while they bumped it to 20mg because I adjusted a bit, but it was still useful as long as I had it.
But as you allude - I even still remember how it felt, and I’ve been able to tap into that a little bit. Not to overcome executive disfunction, but it somehow helps me focus when I want to a little better somehow. Somehow just having it helped me accommodate a little better. Sometimes. Well, occasionally. Well, it feels like it anyway, or I can at least say “I know what I would do if I was on ritalin right now” hehehe
