I suspect the circuit tracks the sine wave curve of the incoming grid power (like a zero voltage switch circuit does). If so, the shut off will occur in a fraction of 1/60th of a second.
About the second point: it appears they will need the same grid intertie circuitry that inverters need …

Let’s see if Newsom signs it. With the way he tried to push through liability limits for electric companies (who seem to be too good at creating wildfire disasters) I have my doubts. His presidential ambitions have led him down the dark path of caring more about corporate sponsorship than voters.
Wow, that’s a lot. For the record: except for smog testing there are no inspections in CA. And I’m not even sure those are required state-wide.

I asked because in Southern California the occurrence of breakdown seems quite low in comparison. Maybe because the weather isn’t as hard on cars?
This is admirable, but in which city are you often seeing people struggling with car troubles?
If you have a credit union in your area I encourage you to check it out. They often are more humane.
