    In a 2016 survey, 69% of Azerbaijanis believed life was better under the USSR.

    In a 2016 survey, it increased to 53% of Belarusians saying life was better under the USSR

    Another Pew survey, also in 2017, showed that 43% of Georgians thought the dissolution was a good thing, compared to 42% who thought it was a bad thing.

    In a 2016 survey, around 60% of Kazakhs above the age of 35 believed life was better under the USSR.

    A 2013 Gallup survey showed that 61% of Kyrgyz thought the dissolution of the USSR was harmful, compared to 16% who thought it was beneficial.

    A 2013 Gallup survey showed that 42% of Moldovans thought the dissolution of the USSR was harmful, compared to 26% who thought it was beneficial.[7] Regret about dissolution later increased to 70% according to a 2017 Pew survey, with only 18% saying the dissolution was a good thing.

    Levada polling since the mid-1990s on the preferred political and economic system of Russians also shows nostalgia for the Soviet Union, with the most recent polling in 2021 showing 49% preferring the Soviet political system, compared to 18% preferring the current system, and 16% preferring Western democracy, as well as 62% saying they preferred a system of economic planning compared to 24% preferring a market capitalist economy.

              Yeah, I read your claims. And, again, a lot of families’ experiences differ from yours, and it is incredibly silly to claim that that was somehow worse than what came before/after, or worse than what the vast majority of the world was experiencing.

              You are most likely saying that you do not accept any living standards as ‘good enough’ unless the state engaged in plundering of the global South.

          I mean 2 things:

          1. In Memory things were always better than they actually were.
          2. Asking random people what they want gives you a big portion of answers that are things that are actually super harmful to them. Most people are simply too stupid and/or easy to manipulate/steer/… Hence things like people depending on immigration voting for Trump… go bankrupt later…

                    Ok, so you can trust “the masses” only if they support their government or policies you like.

                    I for sure wouldn’t trust people that, for example, supported the German government in 1933-1945 (actually, the vast majority of German governments), or the people who support the states that invaded Iraq and Afghanistan and which are engaging in the genocide in Palestine.

              No idea why you put me in some group like that or what that accomplishes.

              But in any case, yes, most people are too dumb, too easy to manipulate. Just look at the USA, wild stuff. But pretty much any other place on earth works too, perhaps we have to look at history. Germany in or before WW2 was wild too.

              This is also the reason even a kingdom can be really good, simply by having a good king. That’s also the issue every(?) empire had… once the great leader is gone it all goes to shit.

              We see live how the masses of easily manipulated people cause so much damage by enabling shit stains like Trump. Is that really that hard to believe?

                Yeah man I don’t think having a gold plated pedophile in charge of everything while everyone else works in the mud and dies of plague every few years sounds better than sharing the fruit of human knowledge and ingenuity with everyone so that everyone uplifts one another’s ability to participate in society.

                I’m sure that problem will just go away and not get way worse when you have one wealthy inbred dipshit with slaves who gets to decide what’s true and what education looks like for the entire society. Feudalism has been relegated to obscurity for a reason: it was outcompeted in the west by capitalism and extremely outcompeted in the east by socialism.
