From the moment I heard about The Cloud, I thought it was a stupid idea. Why would you put your important data in the hands of a third party? They’ll steal it, lose it, manipulate it, overcharge for it, go out of business, change the rules, etc.
No, I’ll just buy another hard drive.

Because for important data, most people don’t have off site storage available that’s not a cloud unless they go to the trouble of renting a safe deposit box with a hard drive or something, which most won’t. No off site means one bad fire or burglary could wipe you out.
And now “The Cloud” bought all the affordable hard drives…
If only there was an alternative 🤔

yea, switching to linux is easy, having harder time de-google, YouTube and Android is were they have me, for everything else self host or small complany services
Replace:
Google -> degoog.org
YouTube -> Grayjay
Android -> iodéOS/LineageOS/Graphene (any de-googled Android with microG on it)
This is just my preferred replacements, people never do and never will agree on what is the best way to go. Any progress is still progress though :)
It doesn’t replace everything, but Nebula replaced maybe half of my YouTube viewing.
Progress is progress
Stockholm syndrome is real.
I fucking HATE OneDrive with a passion.
I have no opinion on OneDrive, because my only experience with it is through memes like this. Why do you put up with it?
My work computer. I’m not allowed to install Linux on it.
We’re stuck using it at work. It’s such a struggle to remind my computer every day that I don’t want to save any documents to the cloud.
Ah, fair enough. Best of luck to you.
OneDrive to rule them all
OneDrive to pester them.
OneDrive to upload them all
And in the cloud store them.
you can uninstall it
Can you uninstall it permanently?
My shop switched from using a local drive for storage to using SharePoint/OneDrive and its awful. Waiting 10 minutes for an updated production file to sync versus having it instantly available is going to cause a world of problems on rush orders.
The Dark Side never gives up.
