Yeah, I mean that was the generation where games really started to require Internet and/or Day One updates to play. Before that, online was really optional.
Sure, some newer games are fully contained on the disc and 1.0 is playable offline, but from then, more and more weren’t.
“some newer games” is doing a massive disservice to the fact that it remains the vast majority. It is more honest to say some games aren’t playable from disc, but most are.
