Every negative emotion I have, I’m told to go to therapy.
Negative emotions are human!
Why have we, as a society, grown to fear them?

I don’t see this. I should note I’m an American, since some here have claimed this is an American thing.
So this is either particular to the people you are surrounded by, or something particular about you that makes people want to suggest therapy.
Yeah, nobody every talked about therapy around me until I got to college. Then everyone was therapy this therapy that. Then went to graduate school abroad… nobody talked about it. Moved back to the east coast usa in a very rich city… and therapy this therapy that.
it’s super common if you’re in the wealthy elite parts of the country and such, but not so much if you’re not. but also it’s being actively pushed as the solution to many problems, like social alienation, etc. that have more obvious solutions… like simple paying people more.
to me it’s symbolic of how we refuse to like address so many things, and just offshore them or create some new pet industry of experts to address… what were handled by ordinary stuff in the past. like having a workplace where you belonged and got paid fair wages and your life had stability and opportunity as a given… etc.
