Are you looking for a good comedy tonight? How about Naked Gun, Airplane, one of a baggilion Adam Sandler movies? No, why not watch Nightmare on Elm Street! It’s a Comedy because it’s clearly in the Comedy section. No? How about Die Hard? It’s a comedy if you ignore all the murder and violence.

I am so sick of looking for movies and seeing so much crap miscategorized and sitting in the wrong places. Last night I watched “Keanu” (which is a comedy-action) and thought I would add a second similar movie, “Caught Stealing”, because it was also in the Comedy section.

It is not a comedy.

Having a single joke in a movie does not make it a comedy. “Reservoir Dogs” is not a comedy despite some mirthful scenes. So why the fuck are all these movies so badly categorized?

And there’s a special place in Hell for people who add every category imaginable to porn. You got a woman have a 8-way with 7 dudes dressed as dwarves? Clearly that belongs in the “Solo” or “Masturbation” section. /s

Same as it ever was. Maybe you’re too young to have experienced the mess of p2p filesharing networks like Gnutella and KaZaA.

Limewire and Napster were my starting experience with p2p. It’s been bad forever, but services like Netflix should be better

Yeah my b, I thought I was in a different community here 😅 . I fully agree that paid-for services should be properly categorized and correctly populated with complete metadata.

Much of the issue is people getting lost in the sauce, but plenty is marketing. I’m also frustrated. Give a movie 3 tags, tops. Order of tags indicates how applicable they are. Glass onion is mystery, comedy, drama. Cable guy is comedy, horror, thriller. Airplane is comedy, comedy, comedy. It’s not that hard!

If a movie tags itself as comedy three times I’m assuming it’s shit lmao

Airplane is pretty mid anyway. I much prefer Tyler Perry’s Medea goes to hospice, personally.

When Medea breathed her last and she audibly farted, killing 3 very confused and terrified coroners, I just couldn’t stop laughing. 11/10. A classic

I was ribbing but also teeing you up to make the punchline for the Airplane joke “I am serious and don’t call me Shirley.”

i’m with you on this one. try searching for ‘action movie’ and you get the whole catalogue because apparently every movie has some action in it.

Assuming you are using a commercial service, the goal of those recommendations is not to serve you what you want to watch but to serve you what they want you to watch.
