I had a job where I was supposed to arrive at 8:00am. According to maps & normal traffic patterns, it should take me 25-30 minutes to get there from home.
If I left home at 7:30 it would usually take me 35 minutes and I would invariably arrive at 8:05am. Late.
No problem, leave earlier, right?
If I left at 7:25am it would take me 40 minutes and I would arrive at 8:05am.
If I left at 7:15am it would somehow take me 50 minutes and I would arrive 8:05am.
If I left at 7:00am …you guessed it, it would take me 65 minutes and I would arrive 8:05am.
It’s like I was destined to be there at 8:05am.
Eventually I negotiated with my boss to be there at 8:30am instead. I stared leaving my house at 7:45am and I’d usually get there by 8:15am. Early!
It was just the way the traffic worked out in my commute.

My girlfriend (at the time) slapped my ass hard while I was bending over to pick up my underwear after we had sex. She missed… I guess she didn’t realize that when bending over, balls are exposed from behind.
Slapped me full force right on the berries. I let out a yelp, fell over, and had a wheezing/laughing fit. It was both hilarious and incredibly painful. She was laughing & apologizing/trying to help me up.
To be fair, I don’t think it specifically says human semen, and some animals can produce an awful lot in one load.
A friend of mine had this book! He said he got it as a joke, but even so I never ate at his place again.

If you can’t throat an entire Costco hot dog wiener in one bite you don’t deserve to eat it.
I can summarize that patch to make is smaller for them:

Wait, I thought he did get hit by the beams and they sent him back in time, and through what could only be described as an exceptional demonstration of determination and willpower, he worked his way back up through time- through ages & ages, to confront Darkseid again. Maybe we’re thinking of different storylines?

Spidey’s parents and his uncle who helped raise him are all dead/murdered. All three are orphans, so that all cancels out. :-).
Peter Parker only became spider-man once his uncle was killed, that set him on the path to use his “great power” with “great responsibility.”

I’ve always theorized that his power is “superhuman willpower.”
He has the massive will to obsessively train, study, and do all the things he does. Becoming one of the strongest, smartest, and most effectual people alive. I doubt any human has a higher willpower than Bruce Wayne. He has even out-willpowered Wonder Woman’s lasso-of-truth.

I thought he had powers because he was born on Krypton under a red sun, and all Kryptonians gain superhuman powers when exposed to a yellow sun.

I don’t have a Switch 2 and am not interested in getting one, but I do know rage-bait articles about non-issues. I can’t understand someone throwing a tantrum because there’s a button on their controller that they don’t need. Just ignore it?
Hey, I bought a car that has a “Bluelink+” option to talk to their support people. It’s a subscription service which I don’t pay for. It doesn’t harm me in the least that the button is there and I don’t use it. I don’t even mind that the ads for the car mention that it’s a feature. It would be weird if it did upset me.

I’m a system administrator for a relatively big SaaS for a relatively big company.
I was attempting to configure a new inbound email protocol in the TEST environment. I needed to reference how it was configured in PROD so I could copy certain settings into TEST, so I had both up on my screens (you can see where this is going). But first I needed to clear out the old cloned configurations in TEST.
…And not even half a second after I deleted those config files did I realize what I’d done: deleted inbound email configuration on PRODUCTION. In the middle of the day. Killed inbound email for the system for the whole company.
The whole reason I had PROD open was because I didn’t have good documentation of how it was configured (what was cloned into TEST was old and not correct). So now I was seriously fucked. I had to redo the config from scratch live in PROD. Even tried backing out the deletion but that failed.
Had to advise my boss of the fuckup. He was new. Had only been with the company for like 2 weeks. I had to assure him that I am NOT actually a total fuckhead and I usually don’t do stupid shit like this. I felt terrible, because I knew he’d have to give the post-failure analysis review on this to his new bosses, and that would definitely be awkward.
Anyway, he was cool with it. Assured me that he’d done something similar at a previous job. He let me do my thing to fix it, which I did. Inbound email was only down for …well, a long time (3-4 hours), because once I was able to get the config working, I had to re-register all of the inbound email addresses to use it -which had its own sordid story. That took some time.
After the fact, we modified the TEST environment to have a different “theme” (header colors) so it wasn’t identical to PROD on-screen, and I documented the email configuration thoroughly.

Do you make obnoxious broad generalizations about every massively diverse country on earth, or just the USA?
