That’s not generally how they are sold. A power strip looks like this. A surge protector is grounded.
Lightyear (2022) had a trailer that is straight up false advertising. The trailer shows him contacting Star Command, something that never occurs in the movie. Still bitter about that.

Fingers are already on the scale in tons of ways, like gerrymandering, the electoral college, etc. But they can’t gerrymander away an overwhelming 1 sided victory. Votes still count. Even if fingers are on the scale.
Think of the efficiency. You can microwave your hot pockets while on the toilet. No reason to ever get up.
The amount of money spent is the deciding factor. If it was like $10, people waste money all the time. If it was more? Gets stupider by the dollar.
