Europe does not invest much into technology

We invest shitloads, we invent shitloads. The problem is you don’t hear about it because it’s bought up by US tech companies to be announced as one of their new products. Ask Americans who invented many of the key milestone technologies and they’ll reply with a list of Americans. They’re then shocked when they found out that those Americans are actually only the ones who patented it first and that it was first invented in Europe.

All my devs use them for their daily work and haven’t once questioned that it’s useful.

Not questioned that it’s useful or just told you what you want to hear? I would argue that it’s the latter, being driven by fear of losing their jobs especially given the current state of the tech sector with the amount of layoffs of devs due to them being replaced by AI.

How will “AI kill us all”? I can see it creating harm and getting people out of jobs. But kill us??

There’s been a story this week where AI was used by the US military in analysis of a Chinese cargo ship and concluded it was carrying nuclear weaponry components to Iran. The US military were planning on boarding the vessel which would be considered an act of war. Only a last minute analysis of the intelligence revealed it was false.

The internet was great until the pointy shoe brigade got too much power in tech companies.

I had 4 separate appointments before the job was completely done.

In the UK. I had two. First to deal with pain, second to do the root canal.

Been down this path, just had a crown fitted on a pre-molar last week. I’m in the UK and I had this done on our free National Health Service. It took two weeks. First appointment was root canal, prepping the tooth for a crown, taking impressions of the mouth so they could make the final crown and fitting a temporary crown. That took an hour appointment and was done under local anaesthetic.

Second appointment 2 weeks to the day later was to remove the temporary crown which takes seconds, clean up the area and fit the new crown. That took a half hour appointment and was done without any anaesthetic or numbing.

And that is on our state healthcare in the UK that we all moan about. I am hazarding a guess you’re in the USA so your dentist is probably trying to milk your health insurance company for all they’re worth. It’s quite funny when Americans come to the UK and have to have treatment and they post it on social media. They go on about how there’s not a massive barrage of tests etc that get done and a lot of other things they’d get in the USA and how bad that is. It’s then pointed out that it’s because our healthcare professionals aren’t trying to screw insurance companies for all they’re worth so you get the tests you actually need and not ones that are barely tenuously related to maximise profit.

What should happen is that they should have Trump arrested, put before numerous courts including the ICC, have all the wealth he accumulated during his Presidency confiscated and him thrown in jail.

What will happen is he’ll get a pardon.

Pretty much. One of the advantages overweight people have if they want to start exercising is they’re literally doing resistance exercises all the time they’re moving due to the extra weight they’re carrying. Over the last few years I lost 25kg, the equivalent of a large sack of potatoes.

It’s not twisting anything, it’s verifiable fact. Dumping millions of litres of hot water from power stations into them just makes a critical situation worse.
