“Of” being the operative part of the name. United States OF America. Derivative of the land name given by the European explorers. While it’s incorrect to just say “America,” you’d probably just be considered annoying if you went around reminding people or pretending not to get it.

I got told to shut up last time I said this. “people can think what they want in the shower.”
This com has turned into a “Just post” thing. They spirit is lost. Perhaps we need a “RealShowerThoughts” com.

This is the quality of Showerthoughts we should strive for.

Thanks. That’s what I figured. To date, I think only ultralight aircraft that would normally just be high altitude vehicles have viably used electricity for long distances.

My 1975 was tuned for distance. When I drove it from Key Largo to Seattle, it did 35mpg average over the 3500 miles I drove. That car was lost in an accident, sadly.
25 miles per gallon. 30 minutes would be 12.5 miles on half a gallon.
My current one does about 25-30 mpg. It weighs 1950 pounds. So, yes. It can comfortably do half an hour on one gallon or so and have fuel left to get me to a refill.
They have flat 4 two liter VW engines. Extremely efficient if tuned correctly. One top of that, there is a direct 1 to 1 drop-in electric kit for these. When my current engine dies, I have an electric kit I’ll put into it to make it an 914E.

This article is idiotic.
$5 cost. 25,000 pounds. BUT OVER WHAT FUCKING DISTANCE?
$5 gets me 23 miles in my Delica. It gets me 100 miles on my motorcycle. It gets me 30 miles in my Porsche 914. But the article says nothing about distance.
Lineman. OP would be tossed out of the nest for calling them a electrician.

10 people per site, per incident, at 50-70 hours/week.
It’s thankless work and the people in control don’t typically take on contractors. They underpay the actual IR staff. That’s why I left the industry. It’s a big buddy-system network. Really fucked.

Whatever. I worked the fucking case. The infiltrators were Russian. After that, it’s a political or financial negotiation.

I am repeating what I said elsewhere on a different comm:
I call FULL bullshit on this being Iran.
I personally worked on the cybersecurity incident that happened to St Paul municipal and water systems last year as the Incident Response Technical lead.
The threat actors were not Iranian then. They were Russian.
I personally rebuilt most of their networks, VMware hosts, storage, and servers. The majority of the VMware environments did not have config backups and were running 5 and 6 branches of VMware, only two had 7+.
Their network was insecure. They had IPSEC VPNs between the various location, but there was no further security in that respect. Their firewalls were not being kept up. AAAAND… I warned them that we thought they were still compromised.
In fact, the forensics team called them out as being clean on a group call one week into the incident, but while we were on the call with leadership, they got RE-infected.
I had my team compile a massive set of recommendations for them and I wrote the report. Water Systems specifically. They did not listen to us, apparently. The forensics team also did this.
They had FBI, national guard (fucking incompetent), and law enforcement (useless) in all meetings.
If they got into Water, they’ll get back into city and municipal again. I guarantee it.
This is not Iran. It’s the fucking incompetence of city government and Russian threat actors.

Walking on two legs was a mistake. I want a redo.
This shit happened to me, but in kindergarten. I grew up in a bilingual house. I spoke English and Spanish equally. I went to the school with my mom to get assessed. She said I could read and was bilingual. The teacher didn’t believe it and made me read from one of their books.
To add insult to injury, when they had Spanish class, the fucking teacher taught us that “purple” was “porpuda” and “lizard” wad “lizardo.” Shit like that… My mom put me in another school.
I’m 48 and still laugh about lizardo. How absolutely stupid.
and pink is just “luke white.”
