5 calories is all but meaningless. There’s a small beetle on my window right now. Less than 5 calories.
In the calorie tracking world, there’s no difference in kcal and cal.

A quarter second is about what I do for my only use case, but I’m only covering a couple of square inches.
This whole thread got me thinking. A quarter second, or less, sounds about how I use it, a bare touch.
Why do people steam things?
Which is funny because I just posted about using spray oil on my egg poacher. :)
One example would be my 1960s egg poacher, about all I use spray for. I could use butter, and have!, but the spray ensures it hits the entire surface and the egg no stick. Yes, I could wipe it with a buttered paper towel, but that’s messy.
Having said that, I refuse to pay the ridiculous price for spray oil. Only reason I use it is that my wife stocks it for whatever reason.
A single caller turned me away from Rush and got me started thinking about the content I was consuming.
Dude calls in to say he looked into getting a wind turbine and the math didn’t work out. When he brought up the cost to hook it to the grid, Limbaugh was laughing his ass off.
“Wait! Wait! It requires POWER to run! HAR HAR HAR!”
The man tried to explain that the connection would pay him when he generated more than he used. Limbaugh was an intelligent man, he knew where the conversation was going and kept cutting off the man’s explanation.
Despite the caller’s math as to why wind wouldn’t work for him, Limbaugh wouldn’t allow the man to make one positive point. That turned me off so hard I started seeking other viewpoints. 15-years later and I’m into Fully Automated Luxury Communism.
Enjoy my screenshot from the day that vile man died:
This is the internet equivalent of showing someone a haunted VHS tape.
SEVEN DAYS!
Same. I’d use the rest to get solar and dig a well if there was some left.
I’d love some before and after notes! I’m hardly ever on here so I may miss it. But I’ll catch it eventually!
Hold up. You don’t want hard soap? I think that’s what most of the “making soap” advice in this thread is about.
Lye will NOT do that to your skin. I buy in it bulk (99% pure sodium hydroxide) for various cleaning/restoring projects and for making soap. I’ve stuck in hand in a saturated bucket. You’ll get instantly slimy as the lye converts your skin oils to soap, and you WILL find tiny cuts you didn’t know were there, but it’s not going to instantly burn through your flesh.
Anyway, there’s no lye in the final soap product, no lie! Soap making is a chemical, not a physical, reaction.
I’ve had that! Guy from the Greek grocery was at my company’s open house, giving out a bar with every olive oil purchase. Had no idea how long a bar lasted because I would lose track before replacing it.
One night I was watching a YT video on making soap and there were my boys! (I know it was them because of the stamp.)
That got me started on making my own. First batch was perfect, subsequent batches refuse to dry properly.
Mommy (or daddy) ain’t teaching this stuff. My mom (silent gen) barely taught me laundry as she assumed I would have a woman to do it.
My kid’s mom (Gen X) does EVERYTHING for them. When they’re at my house I’m non-stop showing, teaching and getting them involved with domestic chores.
When we (Gen X) got to college, none of the guys on my dorm floor knew how to manage laundry.
tl;dr: It’s not the kid’s fault.
How much is bleach in Canada?! A generic gallon is around $6 at Walmart, which, while stupid expensive for bleach, that gallon will last 16-32 loads (1/2 cup vs. 1 cup).
Even without bleach, try washing whites on hot. And wash them by themselves! I divide everything into black, white and whatever. No fuzzies on the black, white stays white, and whatever. :)
I bleach stuff with color all the time. No idea how and when the machine mixes the bleach, but everything comes out nicely. I’ve had other machines that apparently dumped the bleach in there and ruined things.
NOTE! Pure cotton will bleach. You don’t bleach a cotton T-shirt with color in it!
One more tip: I do the bleach load last and hit the “extra rinse” button. Not sure it makes a difference with my current machine, but it’s helped on models I had in the past. Some of those would hold bleach somewhere and drop some on the next load.

LOL, dating isn’t hard for guys. You think guys have it rough, you should hear it from the girl’s point of view. Jesus fucking Christ. These women must be horny as hell to even keep trying with some y’all. I should start a “dating tips for guys” comm.
For background; I’m 5’8", 140lbs. soaking wet, been broke most of my life (am now), no real prospects, no fancy cars, nothing. I take care of my health and hygiene, mostly, dress well (nice clothes are stupid cheap, nearly free and comfortable) and have a decent attitude towards the opposite sex. I drink loads of light beer every day, but I’m not dancing on tables or angry drunk, ever.
Look in the mirror and ask yourself why a woman might want you. You know you got flaws. What can you fix? Start fixing those things. Baby steps. Can you polish up your teeth? Lose some fat or gain some tone? Better haircut? Dress nicer? Got any interesting hobbies? And your interests don’t have to be attractive. Having a passion is interesting in itself.
What can you do? You know damned well you can do better. I’ve met very few humans I considered “maxed out” on attractiveness stats. (OK, strippers are kinda cheating, they know what they’re doing.)
And keep in mind, no one out there is judging you harder than yourself. Posted this a while back. Read it for yourself. Point being, I inadvertently saw myself from the outside, and I was surprised.
I’ll give you a pro-tip; A great first date question is, “Tell me about a fucked up first date.” Listen, learn, don’t be that guy. Some of these women had me laughing out loud. SERIOUSLY?! And have a good story of your own! You know you got one.
OK, one more; Join these dating sites as a woman looking for a man. Read the men’s sad-sack profiles, look at their pictures, and don’t be that guy. Dead animals and fancy motor vehicles ain’t gonna turn anyone on. And FFS, stop with the, “I’m a really nice guy and just want to find true love.” No. Yeah, they want love too, but they’re not interested in being your mother.
Tried that on PoF before I met my second wife. Jesus y’all, I felt awful for my gender. I really mean that. I was actually sad, really felt for those guys. But I didn’t want to fuck them. Can’t imagine how turned off the women must be, but they got stories.
The thing I like about Madonna is that she determined it was her life’s goal to be rich and famous. So she went all out to achieve that goal.
Garth Brooks did the same. Perhaps apocryphal, but he walked around Oklahoma State University with a detailed plan written in a notebook. He made the plan and executed it, in order, no excuses, would not accept no for an answer.
