Now I’m imagining one of those creepy nurses at the urinal. The door opens, you hear pissing, see them. They fart tremendously. “No rain without thunder,” they remark idly. You turn off the game and hide, day ruined. Another successful session of horror gaming.

There are ethos of loyalty; to family, to country, to friends and ideals. Those can be each coherent bases on which to approach a decision.

What Trump and his followers engage in is a different animal down to its DNA. He is some flavour of dark triad narcissist with markedly malignant, sociopathic tendencies. For a certain kind of personality, the authoritarian follower personality type (see the free online works of Dr. Bob Altemeyer for more on them) he slots neatly into an emotional need for certitude and feelings of violence towards outgroups.

For them, loyalty is not a value or ethos. It is an emotional reaction to uncertainty or negative feelings. They do not introspect. They do not interrogate their own beliefs. Whatever they tell you in response to your question will not cohere in the way a good education would train to you expect. They do not have beliefs, as such.

I’m explaining this because you’re clearly confused about it. There’s a genuine disconnect between how you view and value ideas and how Trump’s followers seem to do the same task. You will never comprehend them until you study authoritarian followers.

I was raised on a lot of fine ideals. Even though the scales have fallen from my eyes, I still like what America was supposed to be. I know there’s no America where there are no cats and the streets are paved with cheese, but I still think there should be one. So to speak.

TOS can’t protect a company from legal requirements, and I’m not clear on what the legal requirements are in terms of safeguarding and content moderation but my initial hunch is that they’re very lackluster. I hope that the suit will bring attention to this issue with legislative bodies, but I suspect that’s the most that can be realistically hoped for.

One time I looked at a 1tb microSD card and decided there was no fucking way that much data could fit into something so small. Ever since that day, no microSD card has worked for me. They get I/O errors, each one. Suspecting this isn’t a coincidence might be my most schizophrenic thought.

Haven’t spent much time on any RTS since… Gosh, I guess since C&C Generals. I tried to get into Total War: Warhammer but there’s just so much rigamarole with that one. I’ll definitely check out the demo, I’ve been waiting for a good reentry into this genre.
