I bring 3 big bags (backpack, gym bag and big cooler) with me to work lmao. 1 clothes/towel/toiletries, 1 tools/computer and 1 food. I work 12s or 18s and shower on site. Mechanical engineer at a power plant. Exclusively public transit for me would be a nightmare.

But also, needing your own vehicle and tools to do your job isn’t as normal as you’d think. Maybe necessitated in America, but apart from a driver’s license here your employer should provide you with a vehicle, parking space and tools if they’re needed to do your job. Plenty of people I know don’t actually own a car themselves, but lease one through their employer because it’s required to do their job. They walk or cycle to wherever they’re able to keep the vehicle, if that’s not at home, and don’t necessarily have their own.
