Is there any advantage to having a higher framerate than the screen’s refresh rate? Seems a bit redundant to me.

I play simracing games in VR and lock my frame-rate to 90 to match the Quest 2, or 60 if I’m playing on my 15 year old Samsung TV. I feel no input lag though my force feedback wheel.

That’s because you will notice the inout lag only if you play any competitive game, for everthing else it’s not noticeable

      Not for average day gaming.

However competitive fast action shooters might give you a little advantage

It gives you lower latencies but you will not notice unless you play a competitive game or some timing based one (like Osu ig) so just don’t worry much about it

There isn’t. But monitors are set at default to 60Hz. You have to go into the settings and change it yourself. Then games might not support that refresh rate. But setting the games refresh rate to unlimited, and capping it at your monitors Hz with software, is the simplest solution. You can set fps caps with Nvidia software, I don’t know about AMD.
