Does it have the “avoid highways” option? I have an EV now and I started to avoid highways as a result, and then I realized its just so much more peaceful and hardly takes more time, and now all my driving avoids highways.
I’m aware of that and don’t care, that’s the problem of whomever is poorly and impersonally doing hiring.
If they don’t want thousands of applicants, there are tons of recruitment strategies that avoid that problem, like job fairs, employee referral bonuses, direct recruitment, and working with agencies for placements, to name only four off the top of my head.
If they want to send their ad to the wolves, they won’t get good results, but they will get a lot of them. They are also probably an exceptionally shit place to work because they can’t even recruit talent because they are “suffering from abundance” without resorting to screening out people who can’t do data entry or have better things to do than jumping through hoops.
Yeah cool. Good for them. Easily fixed problem, but everyone wants unicorn workers, so they don’t need any training, and that requires casting a very wide net and screening out the catch they don’t want.

I can do housework and even some major projects now and then, and it makes me hurt, sometimes to the point I can’t get out of bed, so then I don’t do more work for a few days, until it feels better, rinse and repeat. Amazing!
Jobs with any sort of physical component just constantly aggravate those pains, day after day, until I break down completely. Super fun stuff! Even sitting at a screen all day aggravates the upper back problems after a couple months! No ergonomics or physical therapy have fixed that, yet. If I could find a fully remote job that would probably work for a while, but those are hard to land. So here we are.

I went to vote in the primaries recently and flipped off the flock cameras all along the way because it was the first time I’d passed them in a while. I was fully expecting to get a ticket for the double-bird and not having my hands on the wheel. Instead, I went for a walk about a week later to discover all the flock cameras have been removed. My town ended the contract!
They are considering other options, however… A rose by any other name still triggers allergies… So I’ll for sure be looking for when city halls are happening. I guess I’ll also be going around town talking to locals about it, same as I did when deflock.me first dropped.

Last game I played was surviving the aftermath, which is a survival base builder sort of thing. So I’m just a standard regular person with meh traits.
The amount of fucked depends on what context I’m spawning in. In reality? Meh. In the game itself? Vaguely fucked, being more fucked as the population grows. In another reality with different rules and stuff? Ultrafucked.
I want to make something like this for my place, maybe a few, but I’m afraid of them being vandalized because I live in a conservative area.
I’m considering killing two birds with one stone by making it clear that they are under surveillance… by the people across the street who have a ring camera, and those are part of the law enforcement network.
Also I’m basically always home so not that much of a concern, really, I guess.
Thanks, but theres really nothing to be done about it short of rebuilding both flights entirely, and I’m not even sure that would fix them. The problem is the way they are built; the stairs to the second floor turn a corner, and the triangular stairs in said corner narrow to the point on the inside corner that it drops immediately 3 stairs down if you miss-step, and the miss-step is like a third of the stair. Incredibly dangerous, and I hold the rails for dear life every time.
The back stairs from the addition just aren’t even. They all have different rise because they needed to meet into three already-existing floors - main floor, back door at ground level, and basement floor, and they had to turn 3 corners to do that. I’ve tried to math out a way to make them even and I can’t. I’ll still have substantial differences between sections.
It’s a very old house full of very bad choices that can’t really be fixed without major overhaul. I’ll probably hire someone at some point to see if they can fix it, if I can ever afford that, but I’ll probably bite it on the stairs well before that happens :) I’m planning to paint the quarter rounds with glow pigment to help delineate the stairs in the dark, and add some glowing non-slip tape to the bullnose, but thats about the best I’ve got, and it won’t really help that much.

The stairs, however, have probably done me in dozens of times. I frequently say “how have I not died on these stairs yet??” As I nearly slip once more.
I don’t really pay a ton of attention to how fast i go through it, just estimating, hence the range. :) They eat a lot more in winter tho.
I have a small flock and it really depends how much you can DIY, but I’ve spent several hundred on their yard setup and equipment (food and water buckets, water heater for winter, etc.) and thats very cheap materials. This is because I live in town and part of the license stipulates they are in a fully enclosed area, not able to roam. I also built their overnight run out of 1/2 in galvanized mesh, to keep them safe from night predators, and that was expensive to do.
If you live out in the country you wont have that problem with the required fencing, but you will have predators, and if you don’t properly account for those you wont have any birds to harvest.
Chickens take several months to reach full meat bird size. The feed is like $20/50lbs and 6 go through 1-2 bags per month. I heavily supplement their food with kitchen scraps from all the people I give eggs to, so we all waste less and they have incredibly healthy eggs, which reduces their feed consumption substantially, but that feed cost is always there.
My chickens are not meat birds, mostly because I’m not allowed to have a rooster so i cant’t get hatching eggs for free, it’s not really worth repeatedly buying eggs for that purpose. I get 4-6 eggs per day every day from my 6 hens, and that is a LOT of eggs. I average a dozen every 2 days or 15 dozen per month. I supply five households with that, with occasional extra to a few others. If you plan to raise birds for eggs, make sure you have people lined up to take them before you get the birds. Tons of people have backyard flocks these days so its much easier to get eggs from random people.
If you want an economical option, i suggest raising quail. They are ready for culling at 6 weeks and while you get a lot less meat from each bird, they are much faster and cheaper to get to grown, if you get good at incubating the eggs, and keep your own breeding covey. They are also incredibly easy to slaughter and clean, mechanically speaking. Tools include very sharp scissors and a bucket and that’s all. They also only need 3sqft/bird to be happy (you’ll see 1 sqft thrown around but that’s industrial and their standards are trash, even 3 is a bit low, but they don’t seem to mind, because it means a 10-bird covey gets 30sqft of floor space), unlike chickens which need a lot more.
The way we made it at the place I worked was to puree fruit, then reduce it a bit over heat (no added sugar), then put like 2tbsp or so over ice and topped off with the carbonated water.
So it’ll only really work well with flavors that don’t degrade in heat, but you may also have luck with just straight pureed fruits like watermelon, not super sure how that’d turn out.
You can also use fruit syrups that you buy or make yourself, tons of recipes out there.
You can pick up a used ball keg, probs $25-30, a cheap regulator, some tubing and a carbonating cap (you can skip the carbonating cap, which last I looked is some $25, just hook the CO2 line to the dip tube, it’ll take longer to reach carbonation saturation, but it works fine), and a hand faucet for $1 and rent a CO2 tank (last time I filled a 5lb cylinder it was $30 which includes the cylinder) and make gallons of the stuff for decreasing spend.
Upfront cost is moderately high, yes thats true, but the more you use it the less it costs per gallon. And no plastic bottles, no questionable water source, no shipping pollution. You just have on demand carbonated water. If you add fruit puree, you can make “Italian soda”, or you can buy the soda syrup businesses and such use if you want, though you’ll want something in a pump bottle and not a box that hooks to a big system…
One 5lb tank of co2 is enough for 5-10 batches, depending how heavily carbonated you like, and each batch is 5 gallons, assuming a standard 1/8 barrel keg, so the math is pretty appealing if carbonated water is a thing you like.
Im on fixed income at the moment so: Meat, eggs, and unfortunately most fresh produce at this point. I’m doing what I can to grow my own, but there’s a huge project in need of doing before I can really hit the ground on it. I have a small flock of chickens for eggs, and sometimes raise quail for meat (I’m too poor to be vegan/vegetarian; the birds turn waste into eggs and muscle, I give them as good a life as I can, and slaughter humanely with neutral gas when the time comes), but mostly I just eat shelf-stable stuff that I can buy bulk and cheap.
And since food is a struggle, I also don’t really buy anything else anymore. Too expensive to justify.
