Just wait till you click and drag everything out of the One Drive folder onto your desktop, only to realize that the fucking desktop is also One Drive
That was super annoying to realize.
I work IT in an Apple-heavy environment, and this was the worst to find out. I can’t recall if it’s just OneDrive doing it or iCloud, but either way, makes it a bitch to backup resigned/terminated users’ folders when I’m offline or whatever.
At least penguin won’t stole your data.
Can confirm. I will not steal your data.
Thank you for not stealing data.
You’re welcome <3
I won’t steal your data either.
I will, however, split your firewood.

It is time for penguin.
If you are hesitant, try it on an old machine first. (If you have one)
Help, I’m now using the old machine as my daily PC and negletting the slopmachine! It has been months…
Take the disk, plug it on the other machine, and delete any udev rule that you didn’t create.
Done. Penguin on the faster machine.
Bu-but what if the slow machine has worked out from just luck and in reality I am the stupid and will mess everything?? /overthinking
And it probably feels faster than the slop machine
Scary fast. Like imagine, VLC (or anyt other application) opens when… clicked open??
If you only have the file in the cloud, it’s your fault too.
Recently realized when I drag to one drive, it moves the file, but when dragging out it copies. Perfect blend of data loss and anti-customer practices.
Would you like any help picking a distro?
Any criteria? If newbie, there is nothing wrong with Linux Mint. If experienced, still there is nothing wrong with Linux Mint.
Edit: Oh dang, you were offering help. Thanks, I’m good. Could be useful for anyone who seeks help though.
For gaming or regular use? I’ve tried both Bazzite and CachyOS on my gaming laptop. Even if I wasn’t a tinkerer I would choose CachyOS any day for gaming. Mint over Ubuntu for regular use. My 2 cents
You can game just fine on any distribution.
You certainly can and I have several distros, but Cachy seems to be well suited with gaming. I am very sure I could tweak Mint to be comparable, but out of the box Cachy is a better gamer. One or two clicks and it’s all set.
I went from mint to cachy because it just works better for games. Mint is alright though.
One or two clicks and it’s all set.
But it’s the same on Mint. I don’t get it, What are the particular advantages of Cachy?
Is it the same on Mint? It isn’t for me. On Cachy, the welcome screen has a pick for Apps/Tweaks, then “Install gaming packages”. That’s the difference.
Mint has a welcome screen, but it is very generic. Driver manager, software manager, etc. Sure you can install everything to make it work fine, but Cachy leads you straight into it with that one click and you are gaming within two minutes of OS load. Mint will take a bit longer. And I think it removes some of the package guesswork as well, especially for new users.
Immediately after installing the OS, I installed the proprietary version of the video card driver (two clicks), and that’s all.
Agree. Some are just better suited. I mean I use CachyOS for both gaming and regular use. I was thinking more “is this a workstation or gaming rig” sort of divide. CachyOS have kernel optimizations for gaming, but smarter men than me need to say if that actually has any major impact. And its bleeding edge so you’re always 100% up to date, that can be both good and bad of course. For me it’s good. The two-click setup to have everything installed and done for gaming doesn’t hurt.
Actually for both. For gaming, both of Bazzite and Cachy is good. I mostly suggest Bazzite for newbies though if it’s gaming related. Cachy is Arch and I don’t suggest Arch to newbies.
I second Linux mint.
I third Linux mint.
I encourage LMDE because it’s not downstream from Ubuntu
Hannah Montana Linux, obviously.
Obviously
More like me looking for my entire Desktop
MS just pushed their stupid OneDrive Photos as an update. I decided that’s my last straw. It was one thing when I could toggle AI off, but this trying to connect all my pics to contacts etc is too far. I’m done. I just wish Tuta Drive was ready for daylight. Probably going to ride Mega until it is.
